Restoration of Rosciano Castle

We are committed to the conservation and enhancement of historical and artistic heritage through specialized interventions in excavation and restoration. Restoration is a technical process aimed at reintegrating compromised or deteriorated elements of a work of art, architectural structure, or valuable object, ensuring its preservation. This may include frescoes, buildings, paintings, manuscripts, and other culturally significant artifacts.

The subject of this restoration effort is Rosciano Castle, also known as Palazzo De Felice, situated on Rosciano Hill in the province of Pescara (PE), approximately 26 km from the Adriatic Sea coast. Located on the northern bank of the Pescara River in the heart of Rosciano, the castle’s oldest structure is a quadrangular tower, around which the town developed in an annular pattern. Believed to date back to the 13th century, the tower likely served a defensive and surveillance function. Over the centuries, it underwent several renovations and modifications, particularly when it was incorporated into the adjacent Palazzo Di Felice di Casale.

Architecture

The medieval origins of the tower are evident in its masonry, which features two pointed-arch single-lancet windows. The tower adjoins the rectangular two-story structure of the palace, which now incorporates the tower itself. Currently, the palace is in a state of ruin, though restoration work has begun.
